Thinking About ADU's?

Thinking about an ADU?

ADU's or accessory dwelling units are gaining in popularity across the state, and with the housing shortage there is good reason!  If you are thinking about adding an ADU to your property than this is a great place to start.

What is an ADU?

ADU is an abbreviation for accesory dwelling unit, commonly referred to as a granny flat or in-law suite, and can take many different forms.   ADU's can be attached or detached and offer fully functioning and independant living experiences with kitchen and bathing facilities.

Where do I start?

Figuring out where to start can certainly be a challenge, especially if you are new to the process.  What we like to do with our clients is enter into a pre-construction agreement to help smooth the way with the process.  There are a lot of unknowns that can come up when dealing with an ADU build depending on what kind of build you are looking at.  Whether it's a new build in the unincorparated areas of the county or a garage conversion in the city we an help streamline the process from planning through permits for you!

Social Media Can Help

If you're a fan of social media there are a lot of great resources out there, besides following us on social media one Facebook group in particular has a lot of great information is called How to ADU.  They have a lot of people involved in the group from contractors to DIY homeowners that can give you insights into the process, for instance how to apply for grants, or just progress pictures to show you the construction process that they are going through.
